Your Chip and PIN American Express Card offers you a more secure form of payment, reducing the risk of fraud with the added security of a 4-digit PIN. You must enter your PIN to validate all Card Purchases and ATM Cash Withdrawals; instead of signing purchase receipts as you may have done so far*. If your Card is lost or stolen, your PIN prevents it from being used for any fraudulent purposes. To receive your Chip and PIN-enabled American Express Card, you must set up your 4-digit PIN immediately.

Set up your PIN to receive your new and Chip and PIN Card

Follow these simple steps:
Call the number mentioned in the back your Card and select "Card Chip and PIN services" to set up your individual PIN. You will have to enter your PIN Setup ID number which was sent to you by a personalised letter and SMS.
Alternatively you can also visit www.americanexpress.com.bh/pinsetup and follow instructions.
You will then receive your reissued Chip and PIN-enabled Card. Please call our 24 hour Customer Services number on the back of your card to activate it once received.
Start using your new Chip and PIN Card for all purchases and ATM Cash Withdrawals.

How to use your Chip and PIN Card

1 Your Card will be inserted into a point-of-sale terminal that will obtain your information from the Card's smart chip.
2 In most cases, the terminal will prompt you to input your PIN to complete your purchase. Your PIN replaces your signature as proof of authorisation.
3 If you enter the correct PIN, your purchase is approved and you will receive the receipt.
