FAQs

Q: How can I update/change information related to my American Express® Merchant Account (e.g. bank account, business name, address, phone number, etc.)?
A: Email your American Express Relationship Manager with your request and we will be happy to assist you.
Q: How do I set up my terminal to accept the American Express® Card?
A: American Express will inform your point of sale terminal provider to configure your exisiting terminal: so you should be ready to accept our Cards. If your point of sale terminal has changed or if you have changed your banking relationship, please notify your American Express Merchant Relationship Manager to re-configure your terminal.
Q: How does American Express pay my business?
A: We understand that managing cash flow effectively is one of the most important parts of running a business. Typically, we pay businesses the net amount we owe; this means we deduct the Discount Rate on each transaction rather than asking for payments at the end of the month. We will offset any adjustments to the account, for example credits, refunds or chargebacks, before settlement.
Q: What phone number do I call for approval of a Charge when my terminal refers me to call for Authorisation?
A: Contact American Express Authorisation Numbers. Be prepared to give your Merchant number, the Card account number and the amount of the Charge.
Q: What should I do if I suspect a Card may be stolen or fraudulent?
A: Do not confront the customer. With the Card in hand simply contact American Express Authorisation Numbers and ask for code 10 discretely.
Q: How do I add additional locations to my existing American Express® Merchant relationship?
A: Email your American Express Relationship manager with the Additional Location form and supporting documents
